Default Heroes Video Tutorial

I decided to create a video entry for firingsquad.com and made a heroes tutorial. I have to admit that their conversion program seems to degrade the quality -- but if you want you can check it out here.

I am going to try to host the WMV file elsewhere so people can see it without the conversion process they used.

Let me know what you think.

That was of no help at all.

it really only teaches you how to do the very basic stuff, you get all this in the "command training" quest when starting a NF character.

Well there is a limit to their file size and it was meant as a quick tutorial not an extensive masterpiece. As far as getting that in the NF command training quest -- that is true... but a movie also may help lure new players to try the game... not sure you can do that with the command training quest -- 'cause ya gotta have the game for that.

Well I liked it. The visuals and narration were clear and concise (shame about the compression), and I think it would be very useful to a new player (I seriously doubt the OP was aiming to teach the great and the good of GWGuru forums anything new).

I especially liked the points about flagging heroes to avoid frontline combat (yes if you're a GW veteran it's simple, but I don't recall this being covered specifically ingame), and removing flags before moving out from an area (I still forget to do this all the time!).

I think a series of these (possibly exploring more advanced gameplay as well as beginner stuff) could have good potential. YMMV.

It does what it needs to do and does it very well. Definantly very benificial to the newer players. And yes, I too forgot to remove the flags. That's a very good point to remind.

Yes, I never thought of this video having any value to the veterans of Guild Wars that frequent the halls of Guru.

I made the video to enter their contest and in the hopes it might attract some players to the game.

I was inspired to give Guild Wars some positive press on Firingsquad.com due to their review (read it here) and in response did the video tutorial and my own review (read my review here)

To be honest I also want to win the contest so I can build a new PC -- with a new baby on the way I either win this contest or my state lottery.

Thanks again to those who have voted on this one.

Anyone have any suggestions for a second video?
